Scalable, Distributed Monitoring

Distributed monitoring allows InterMapper network monitoring tools to scale easily from single-building LANs to multi-national WANs.

Installing a separate InterMapper server at a remote site isolates most of the monitored traffic on the high-speed links within the remote site. Only summary information goes back to the central office over wide area links.

Distributed system monitoring tools are available through direct IP connections, VPNs, and firewalls (through a user-selected port) to prevent the leak of network details to the broader Internet.

This architecture maintains security; because the remote polling server is inside the firewall, it does not need special permissions to access the equipment at the remote site. All connections between the remote polling sever and central office are protected via SSL encryption. In addition, you can use corporate directory servers (Active Directory, LDAP, Radius, etc.)to grant or deny access via the InterMapper RemoteAccess client.
