InterMapper monitors any network device with and IP address - even IPv6.

Live Network Monitoring

InterMapper's network monitoring tools work across your entire infrastructure. Devices – routers and switches - with an IP address (including IPv6) are pinged for simple up/down status, and queried for performance and other statistics using SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, or SNMPv3.

InterMapper continually monitors packet loss and response times for every device. It raises network management alerts if these values exceed your thresholds.

The built-in SNMP traffic probe automatically displays the traffic for every port on an SNMP-speaking switch or router. It's easy to see traffic flows: they are indicated on the maps by "ants" - dotted lines that move along to show traffic above certain thresholds. Traffic data also appears on strip charts that provide a historical trend perspective.

InterMapper also monitors critical infrastructure including UPS's, access points, environmental sensors, and other equipment. Easy-to-create custom probes monitor devices that are not included in the 100+ device set that is built into InterMapper.

Network monitoring features include:

  • Any device with an IP address can be pinged or tested

  • Full support for devices with IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

  • Traffic on Routers and switches can be monitored using versions SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, or SNMPv3

  • Nearly 100 built-in probes test the health and performance of various kinds of servers, routers, switches, UPSs, environmental monitors and other networked equipment

  • Synthetic transactions test mail, web, and directory servers and other equipment from over 50 vendors

  • Windows NT services are monitored directly

  • Host resource probe monitors CPU and disk activity as well as free space on drives

  • LDAP and LDAP-SSL probes support an optional password when binding, allow you to specify an alternate search field, and can trigger an alarm if an insufficient number of records are returned

  • Custom probes can be created to test TCP or SNMP-speaking devices

  • Command line probes test devices using a program or script. Pre-written Nagios™ and Big Brother™ plug-ins/scripts can be used as well
